Eating Fishy in Zimbabwe

Usually found in small headwater streams where there is fast water associated with rapids and bouilder stream floor - with or without the precence of aquatic vegetation. It will move to flooded grasslands during the rainy season.

Upper jaw protrusible. Pelvic fin rays 6-9. Lateral line and scales (cycloid) present in some genera. About 15 cm maximum length.

It is found throughout the Zambezi system.

It can be abundant in a suitable environment but this appears to be infrequent
