Eating Fishy in Zimbabwe

The Tarpon is silvery-blue on the dorsal service changing to silver ventrally with orange to gold blushes to the fins.

It is a small fish rarely reaching 1.25 kg.

It appears to frequent and favour quiet water and is found in the Lower Sabi and Lundi Rivers below Chivirira and Selawandoma Falls.. Nowhere is it plentiful and it appears to be subject to seasonal migratory movements.

It is a most popular species for anglers but never found in any quantity. It is generally taken when fishing for other species. It will take a spoon or fish fillet on the bottom, but live bait is worth trying - a barb or imberi. It is not known to jump..
