Welcome to Rallying Zimbabwe, the official website of Sables
Motor Club, which oversees all rallying activities in Zimbabwe.
This site is hosted on our behalf as a free service by leading
Internet Service Provider MWEB Zimbabwe and we are extremely
grateful for this service. If you have any comments and suggestions,
or if you have feedback about this site, please contact us at zimrally@mweb.co.zw.
Zimbabwe is fortunate to have a determined and dedicated motor
rallying community, including some of the best drivers, co-drivers,
crews, marshals, officials and organisers in Africa and I pay
tribute to them for their efforts to keep motor rallying alive
and for helping expand its scope in recent years. Tribute must
also be paid to the sponsors, who literally make it happen.
This site contains valuable information about rallying in Zimbabwe
and has useful links to other relevant international websites.
It is our hope that you will make full use of this site and
let us know if there is anything else you would like to see
on it.
To people within the rallying community ..................
"This is your
site - use it and support it!"

Rallying in Zimbabwe |
 |
Rallying in Zimbabwe is carried out under the control of
the Zimbabwe Motor Sports Federation (ZMSF), which is affiliated
to the Federation Internationale de L'Automobile (FIA), world
motorsport's governing body. The FIA has an African Region,
with a secretariat based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Within the ZMSF framework, Sables Motor Club is tasked with
administering, controlling and organising all motor rallying
activities. It is headed by an executive committee and membership
is made up of competitors and other interested people in Zimbabwe.
Sables Motor Club organises a national
rally championship each year, from which is determined the national
champion driver and the national champion co-driver. In 2004
a major step was taken with the introduction of the Zim-Zam
Series, involving the rally communities of Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The highlight of the rallying year is the Zimbabwe Challenge
Rally, which is also a leg of the FIA African Rally Championship.
This year will, therefore, see a national championship made
up of the Zim-Zam Series, the 2008 Zimbabwe Challenge Rally and other Zimbabwean
rallies. |
