Spiders form an important species in Zimbabwe. The Golden Orb Spider can be seen in both the bush and in urban areas. It's wonderful web stretched between grasses or leaves of plants it shines in the sun as the spider waits for its prey.

The brown widow spider (or button spider) (Latrodectus rhodesiensis and L. geometricus ) is found throughout the country and although poisonous will rarely kill a human being.

The baboon spider is a common resident of holes and although it looks dangerous is in actual fact quite harmless.
